Lava Shell Massage
A new spa massage from the South Pacific has been launched into UK spas, offering the benefits of a hot stone massage, but with the added benefit of being eco-friendly. Genuine, recycled Lava Shells from the Philippines have been harvested for their unique size, shape and structure. These Tiger striped Clam Shells heat up internally due to a patented combination of natural minerals and water. Therapists use between one-and-four shells to deliver a deep, warm therapeutic massage.
Unlike hot stones, which need expensive spa equipment and electricity to heat them, Lava Shells are powered by LavaGel; an innovative, self-heating blend of algae and dried sea kelp that, when blended with salt water, generates its own heat for up to two hours. In its dried form, LavaGel is enclosed in a disposable sachet that inserts into the shell for use.
During your massage, calcium ions from the shell’s structure are transferred directly to your skin, which helps to firm and regenerate your skin, making it appear healthier. The heat is of extra benefit for anyone suffering from muscle tension and stress. The treatment begins with a hot shell being placed into your hand by the therapist. She then massages it over your palms, along your arms, shoulders and neck and finally back to your hand. Next, two shells are used to massage the rest of the body, including feet, calves and thighs. The treatment finishes with a deep tissue back and neck massage.
